The Redundant Reliable Transaction System (RRTS) is a redundant, reliable, scalable and
secure transaction system for use on the Internet or private networks. The system utilizes
desktop machines with the software distributing the workload across the Cluster.
The foundation of the system is the Message Engine. The Message Engine is responsible for
starting and stopping Components and handling all the messaging between Components. The
Components that are running on a particular Message Engine determine the type of System
Functional Unit (SFU), which that server represents.
SFUs on the Cluster manage client connections, orderly transaction flow, data source
connectivity, email notifications, and payment management. Multiple SFUs are combined for
redundancy, reliability, and scalability. An SFU can be stopped and started individually
without disrupting service on the cluster provided there is at least one other SFU running
the same Components. Each SFU runs the Cluster Connector and Monitor Components as well as
the components required for the functionality of the SFU.
The Cluster Connector Component allows messaging between Message Engines. The Cluster
Connector utilizes isolated redundant networks for intercommunication between SFUs with
a proprietary communication protocol. The Monitor Component is a watchdog that assures
proper operation of the Message Engine and sounds an alarm when anomalous conditions are
detected. The Monitor Component also monitors various aspects of the server such as CPU
and memory utilization.
Just a few of the features in the RRTS are:
- 128-bit encryption of all communications to the client applications
- All messages are compressed using proprietary algorithms
- All sensitive data is stored encrypted
- Able to connect to any ODBC compliant data source
- Separate login and public user names for additional login security
- Designed to be run on low end (inexpensive) computers
- Proprietary communication protocol within the Cluster
- Code generation tools to facilitate easy maintenance and modification of messages
- Rotating encryption schemas for client application logins
- Full support from the Virtual Services, Inc. development team
- Customization of the RRTS and development of any client required available
